 The Lighthouse Inn is a first class hotel located in a pleasant neighborhood on the south shore of New London, Connecticut, this Mediterranean style mansion is an American Classic. In 1902 steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie built his country home overlooking Long Island Sound and called it Meadow Court after the wildflowers which surrounded it. The 4.5 acres of grounds were designed by famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York. Meadow Court became a focal point for society events and a retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
Since 1928, this magnificent estate has been home to the Lighthouse Inn. The Inn has completed a $1 million dollar renovation to all guestrooms and public space. Completely restored, the Inn has earned wide acclaim for perpetuting the opulence of a landmark mansion. Each room is unique with glorious antiques and breathtaking views of Long Island Sound or Meadow Court. All rooms also feature many of the comforts and modern conveniences of home.
