Hotel Description: Fosshotel Laugar
Sheltered amid the peaceful rural surroundings of the Reykjadalur valley, Fosshotel Laugar stands at the crossroads of northeast Iceland, a short drive from Akureyri, Husavik and Lake Myvatn. A gateway to some of the region's greatest attractions, including the waterfalls Godafoss, Dettifoss, and the Asbyrgi canyon, Laugar is also close to some of Icelandīs greatest trout and salmon rivers, including the legendary Laxa in Adaldalur. Lake Mývatn is one of the largest lakes in Iceland with about fifty islands and islets in the lake. The hotel is also convenient to the Museum Garden, the very first cultivation station in Iceland established 1899. The garden contains Iceland's tallest birch and rowan trees. A small lake in front of the hotel is surrounded by trees giving the whole facility a relaxed atmosphere. The 75 rooms at the Fosshotel Laugar all have parquet floors. The rooms have two twin beds each and big windows for bountiful natural light. The restaurant at the hotel specializes in Icelandic cuisine. Scheduled buses stop at Laugar every day several times a day going in all directions.
